Toutefois, son \u009cuvre accorde une place importante \u00e0 des sujets occidentaux, notamment \u00e0 travers sa p\u00e9riode v\u00e9nitienne, amorc\u00e9e en 1922, affirm\u00e9e \u00e0 partir de 1936 et poursuivie jusqu&rsquo;en 1944. Inspir\u00e9 par Tiepolo, Canaletto et surtout Guardi, il y d\u00e9veloppe une \u00e9criture picturale libre et suggestive, faite de touches rapides et de silhouettes \u00e9lanc\u00e9es anim\u00e9es par des harmonies tant\u00f4t lumineuses, tant\u00f4t profondes.
